Draft: not yet in effect
This document is not final. Before it takes effect, Scripveil still has to confirm a contact address for privacy requests, an effective date. Until then, treat what follows as a description of how this website works today, not as a binding legal document.

Introduction and acceptance
These Terms of Use (the Terms) govern your access to and use of the Scripveil marketing website (the Website). In these Terms, “Scripveil”, “we”, “us” and “our” mean the operator of the Website identified below, and “you” means anyone who accesses or uses the Website.
By accessing or using the Website you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree to them, please do not use the Website. If you use the Website on behalf of an organization, you confirm that you are permitted to accept these Terms on its behalf.
These Terms should be read with the Privacy Policy and the Cookie Policy.
Who operates the Website
The Website is operated by Scripveil, Kenya. Scripveil is not currently a registered company, so no company name, registration number, registered office or tax number is shown on this website. When a legal entity is established, these documents will be updated to name it.
Scripveil is currently operated from Kenya. Contact details are in the “Contact” section of these Terms and on the Legal Information page.
What these terms cover and do not cover
These Terms apply to the public marketing Website only: its pages, its content and its early-access request form.
They do not apply to the Scripveil application or to any account, subscription, payment, project, collaboration, messaging, professional-profile, marketplace, funding or AI feature. None of those is provided through the Website. When any of them is made available, it will have its own terms, published before you are asked to accept them, and nothing in these Terms creates rights or obligations in relation to it.
Early-access requests
While early access is open, the Website lets you ask to be contacted about early access to Scripveil by giving your email address and answering a few optional questions. By submitting a request you confirm that:
- the email address is yours, or one you are authorized to use;
- the information you provide is accurate; and
- you have read the Privacy Policy, which explains how the information is used.
A request is not an account, a subscription, an application that we are obliged to accept, or a contract. Nothing is charged for making one. Submitting a request does not guarantee that you will receive access, or access by any particular date. We may decide, in our discretion, who is given access and when, and we may delay, decline or withdraw any request.
Submitting a request does not subscribe you to marketing, and you are not required to agree to marketing to make a request.
Acceptable use
You may view and read the Website, follow its links, and share links to it. You may use it only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms.
Prohibited conduct
You must not, and must not help anyone else to:
- attack, overload, disrupt or interfere with the Website, its servers or the services it depends on;
- attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Website, its servers, its data or its administrative systems, or probe, scan or test its security without our written permission;
- introduce viruses, malicious code or anything else designed to harm or interfere with systems or data;
- use automated tools, scripts or bots to submit the early-access form, or submit an email address that is not yours or that you are not authorized to use;
- bypass or attempt to bypass any technical measure that protects the Website or limits how it is used;
- collect content from the Website in bulk by automated means, other than by ordinary search-engine indexing that respects the Website’s published instructions;
- give false information, or impersonate another person or organization, or falsely suggest that you are connected with Scripveil;
- use the Website to send unsolicited messages or in any way that is unlawful, fraudulent or harmful; or
- copy, reproduce or exploit the Website’s content except as these Terms allow.
Website content
The Website describes what Scripveil is intended to become, and is provided for general information. Scripveil is in early access, so some features described on the Website may be planned rather than available, may change, or may not be released as described. Statements about features are not promises that they will exist, or exist in a particular form or by a particular date.
The people, businesses, professionals, projects, opportunities, credits, messages and activity shown on the Website are invented examples created to illustrate how the product may work. They are not real people, real records or real testimonials, and any resemblance to a real person, business or work is coincidental. Interface demonstrations on the Website are illustrations of the intended product and are not screenshots of a live product.
Prices and plans shown on the Website are for information, may change before launch, and are not an offer to sell. Nothing on the Website is legal, financial, tax, creative-industry or other professional advice, and you should not rely on it as such.
Intellectual property and copyright
Ownership. Subject to the exceptions below, the Website and everything on it, including its text, design, layout, graphics, interface demonstrations, icons, name and logo, are owned by Scripveil and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. The table below states who owns what, based on a review of what is actually on the Website.
| Item | Description | Owner |
|---|---|---|
| Scripveil name | The name of the project and the Website. | Scripveil |
| Scripveil logo | The script-page mark, dashed “veil” page, gold path and the “Scripveil” wordmark. | Scripveil |
| Website copy | The text on the pages, written for Scripveil. | Scripveil |
| Design | The layout, colour scheme, spacing and visual system, and the simple line icons drawn for the Website. | Scripveil |
| Graphics and interface demonstrations | The diagrams, mock-ups and illustrative profiles, projects, opportunities and workflows. | Scripveil |
| AI-generated imagery | Illustrative images produced with a third-party AI image-generation tool and selected and edited by Scripveil: the drawing-in-progress image on the Home page, the example illustration and character design sheets on the Visual Arts page (the illustration's earlier versions and its dusk study were made from it by Scripveil), the example work images on the Professionals page, the portraits of the example professionals shown throughout the Website, and the example project covers on the Discover page. The portraits show fictional people, not Scripveil users or any real person, and no image depicts a real place, event or work. | Scripveil, subject to that tool’s own terms (see below) |
| Social-sharing images | The preview images produced when a link to the Website is shared, generated from the items above. | Scripveil |
| Typefaces | Newsreader, Plus Jakarta Sans and Cormorant Garamond, made available by their creators under open licences. | Their respective creators, not Scripveil |
| Software | The Website is built with open-source software, such as Next.js and React. | Their respective authors, under their own licences |
Third-party material. Scripveil does not claim ownership of any third party’s material, names or trademarks, including the typefaces and software above. The Website does not use photographs of real people or places, purchased stock imagery, or other licensed third-party artwork. The images described above as AI-generated imagery were produced with a third-party AI image-generation tool from written descriptions, rather than photographed, and are used under that tool’s own terms. Any other company, product or work named on the Website is named only to identify it, and belongs to its owner.
Scripveil name and logo. The Scripveil name and logo identify the project. You may not use them, or any confusingly similar name or mark, in a way that suggests that we made, sponsor, endorse or are connected with you, your organization or your product, or in a way that is misleading or damages our reputation, without our written permission.
What you may do. You may view the Website, link to it, and quote short extracts from it with clear credit to Scripveil for purposes such as review, commentary, research or reporting, to the extent that the law permits.
What you may not do without our written permission. You may not copy, reproduce, adapt, translate, republish, sell, license or distribute the Website’s content, design, graphics or demonstrations, or use them to create derivative works or to build a competing or confusingly similar service, or present any of it as your own, except as this section allows.
No transfer of rights. These Terms do not transfer ownership of anything to you, and do not grant you any licence other than the limited permission to use the Website described in these Terms.
No user content. You cannot upload, post or publish anything on the Website, so it hosts no user-submitted content. Information you send us through the early-access form or by email is handled under the Privacy Policy. Rules about the creative work you would store in the Scripveil application, including who owns it, will be set out in that application’s own terms before you are asked to put any work into it.
Copyright and other rights complaints
If you believe that anything on the Website infringes your copyright or other rights, email [contact address to be confirmed] with: (a) your name and how to contact you; (b) a description of the work or right concerned; (c) where on the Website the material appears; (d) why you believe it infringes your rights; and (e) a statement that the information you give is accurate and that you are the rights holder or authorized to act for them. We will review it and take the action we consider appropriate, which may include removing or changing the material.
Links to other websites
The Website may contain links to websites and resources that are not operated by us. We provide them for convenience only. We do not control those websites, we are not responsible for their content, accuracy, availability, security or privacy practices, and a link is not an endorsement or a statement that we are connected with them. Your use of a linked website is governed by its own terms and privacy policy, and you use it at your own risk.
Third-party services
Operating the Website relies on services provided by other companies, such as the company that hosts it and the service that receives early-access requests. Those services are provided under their own terms. We are not responsible for services we do not control, and what they do with personal data on our behalf is described in the Privacy Policy.
Availability and changes to the Website
We aim to keep the Website available, but we do not promise that it will be available at all times, uninterrupted, error-free or free of harmful components.
We may change, suspend or remove any part of the Website, including pages, features and the early-access form, at any time and without notice, and we are not liable to you for doing so.
Disclaimers
To the fullest extent the law permits, the Website and its content are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any warranty of accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Website meets your requirements or that any feature described on it will be delivered.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any warranty, right or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law permits, we are not liable for any loss or damage of any kind, including indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of opportunity or loss of data, arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, the Website, or your reliance on anything on it.
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that the law does not allow to be limited or excluded. If you are a consumer, you may have legal rights that these Terms do not affect.
Suspension of access
If we reasonably believe that you have breached these Terms, or that your use of the Website threatens its security or availability, we may block or restrict your access to the Website or to the early-access form, and may decline or delete your request, without notice.
General
Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy, are the whole agreement between you and us about your use of the Website.
Severability. If any provision of these Terms is found to be unlawful or unenforceable, that provision will be applied to the fullest extent permitted and the rest of the Terms will remain in effect.
No waiver. If we do not enforce a provision straight away, that does not mean we have given up our right to do so later.
Transfer. Scripveil is not currently a registered company. We may transfer our rights and obligations under these Terms to a successor operator of the Website, including a company that is later established to operate it. You may not transfer yours.
Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms. A new version will be published on this page with a new version number and “last updated” date, and its effective date. The history of every version is on the Legal Information page. The version in effect when you use the Website is the one that applies to that use, and if you continue to use the Website after a new version takes effect you accept it.
